THE success of a builders’ supply merchant helps projects across Britain boost the Wrexham economy, MP Ian Lucas has said.
The MP visited the Huws Gray builders’ merchants to find out more about the company’s 10 years serving the area.
With more than 40 trading locations across Britain, the company is still expanding and the Wrexham store is the biggest and most successful branch.
During the visit, he heard from manager Mark Evans about how Huws Gray have built upon the past decade’s successes and are looking towards a strong future, helping people and firms obtain the building and DIY supplies they need.
He said: “Huws Gray are a Welsh success story and a Wrexham success story.
“Their staff – many have whom have the best part of a decade’s experience with the store – have helped make those past 10 years a success.
“I was impressed at how welcoming the store was to the general public as well as the building trade. That willingness to help is part of the reason behind the Wrexham store’s success.
“I was also interested to hear how Wrexham construction firms will buy goods here in Wrexham to supply projects across the country – keeping money in our local economy.
“We have seen a number of new housing developments in Wrexham, and I believe it is important for those developments to help our economy wherever possible.
“The visit reminded me that, thanks to firms like Huws Gray, our local economy can also be boosted by construction all across Britain.”
